Support

As a non-profit organization, corporate and private donations are essential for the Women’s Theater Company to continue to provide a distinct voice and imprint on the state’s professional theater community and to set new objectives in support of the arts.

We depend on grants and donations to help us maintain a standard of excellence and to achieve our objectives, including:

Audience Development

We received a New Jersey Cultural Trust Institutional and Financial Stabilization Grant to fund ongoing audience development. With the help of this grant, we doubled our audience in one year. With additional support, we intend to further expand our audience.

Maintaining Low Price Structure

The Arts Council of the Morris Area helps support the standard operating procedures for the company. Both The Star Ledger and The Daily Record have stated that the Women’s Theater Company is the biggest theatrical bargain in the area. Our pricing, with discount tickets for seniors and students, is our primary way to reach out to the community. To continue this outreach, we require additional funding to maintain the lowest possible price structure for a live theater.

Cultural Diversity

Our commitment to attracting culturally diverse audiences is reflected in our choice of plays, such as Lorraine Hansberry’s The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, and our efforts to be welcoming to all. We have experienced increased attendance of diverse audiences, including members of the growing Asian and South Asian communities in Morris County. We have large-print programs available for each production, and accommodate access to patrons in wheelchairs.

Additional objectives include:

Ensuring a permanent home in at the Parsippany Playhouse to allow us to develop a loyal audience base and provide stabilization for the organization.

  • Continue to produce three major productions per season.
  • Donate show tickets to those involved in arts that would be otherwise unable to attend.
